The first Broad Bean Festival took place in 1997: on this occasion the Municipality of Campofiorito, in collaboration with the Region of Sicily and the Regional Province of Palermo, organized the first large village festival dedicated to local product par excellence, which has always been grown in and around Campofiorito. Typical tools and utensils also appear in this event, such as the square, or the large pot used for cooking beans. A peasant tradition to be preserved and promoted, to let everyone know the origins of the village, inviting citizens and tourists to sit at the large village table to taste local beans and wine. In Campofiorito there is a real committee made up of citizens who are active in organizing this great event.

What to do during the Broad Bean Festival in Campofiorito

The town of about 1170 inhabitants is crossed by Corso Antonio Gramsci, the main street in the centre: here, you can stroll among the stands of the festival and at the same time begin your tour of Campofiorito, among private homes, shops and monuments, starting from statue dedicated to the memory of war dead.

Continuing towards the center, you will reach the Mother Church of San Giuseppe, one of the three most important churches in the country; the other two are there Church of Santo Stefano near the Palazzo del Comune and the Church of Maria Santissima Addolorata, which is located in the northern area of ​​the town, just outside the town. Corleone instead it is 11 km away, shortly after the Contrada Chiosi and immediately before the Natural Park of the Due Rocche waterfall; with this short trip, you will be able to admire the beauties of the country and also those of nature.

Campofiorito is reached on the train, from the Guadagna station in Palermo, where visitors will find waiting for them bus and private shuttles, which make connections with the center at about 39 km.

Alternatively, who comes with their own auto, can take the SS 118 up to Corleone and then follow the indications for the center of Campofiorito, a few kilometers away.
