The history of the Almond Festival in Vicari

The almond tree has always been a symbol of Sicily in the world; in the eighteenth century in Vicari the unique recipe was created to prepare the passavolante, on the occasion of the marriage of the king's daughter. The most typical traditions of this land have come down to us, through trees, fruits and ancient recipes, but also thanks to the religious festivals, which bear witness to ancient customs and so today, in the broader context of celebrations in honor of San Giorgio Martire, Patron of the country, we find this Festival of taste every year, capable of reviving its guests typical and ancient atmospheres. It is precisely the San Giorgio Martire Association, in collaboration with the Municipality of Vicari, that organizes the Almond Festival in Vicari, to introduce the youngest and visitors to the ancient traditions of the town.
