A wonderful area that has so much to offer, because it is capable of proposing suggestive naturalistic landscapes but also sea, history and culture. Indeed, in the nearby town of Siculiana Marina, there is the opportunity to foresee a seaside stay on golden sandy beaches bathed by a sea of intriguing colors. A destination not to be missed by those who want to combine relaxing days at the beach with the opportunity to discover a lot in terms of culture and history.
The holiday in Sicily to discover Siculiana
Siculiana and the Siculiana Marina fraction which directly overlooks the sea, offer a truly exclusive tourist package and to be carefully evaluated. The historic center of the town stands in a hilly area, full of monuments to visit as, in addition to offering a unique natural landscape, it has many other beauties. In the historic center of SiculianaIndeed, there are at least three monuments that are unmissable for their architectural features such as the church of San Leonardo made in Baroque inside which there is the famous chapel dedicated to the Holy Crucifix. Equally impressive is the Shrine of the Holy Cross which in turn was designed and built in Baroque style with influences that bring to mind the dominations that affected this part of Sicily. Among the civil buildings however, there is the Lamb Palace, which has played an important role from the point of view of the historical and social development of the territory. Among other things, logistically, Siculiana is located in a perfect area to be able to organize a visit to other territories that have so much to offer, such as Valley of the Temples or the famous one Scala dei Turchi.
The beauty of Siculiana Marina
On the coast of Agrigento there is the hamlet of Siculiana Marina which guarantees a holiday proposal particularly suitable for those who want to spend relaxing days by the sea. However, it is a coast that alternates sandy beaches with jagged cliffs, guaranteeing a beautiful view thanks to a landscape to be savoured, especially at sunset and sunrise.
Even in this territory which is apparently only dedicated to sea lovers, there are cultural proposals to be seized on the fly such as the Coastal Tower of Monterosso. It is a characteristic architectural construction developed on a square plan and which stands imperious on the promontory with clear defensive tasks. Equally beautiful and evocative is the Salsa Tower which instead is a structure positioned on a small clay promontory with the intention of offering a perfect panoramic point for identifying the dangers that arrived from the sea, already several kilometers away from the coast.
In this area there are also unmissable offers for nature lovers such as the opportunity to visit the Torre Salsa Oriented Nature Reserve which, by territorial extension, goes from Siculiana Marina up to Eraclea Minoa. This is a protected area due to its natural beauty and includes a total of about 6 km of pristine coastline with beaches alternating with dunes. The Torre Salsa nature reserve is also appreciated because it is among the most interesting areas of Sicily in terms of the importance of its flora and fauna.
How to reach Siculiana
To reach Siculiana coming from Agrigento it is possible to take the state road 115 for a total of 19 kilometers which requires 21 minutes of travel. If instead you start from Palermo, the kilometers are 140 for a 110-minute journey through the state road 624 and the state road 115.
