The city of marble in Sicily, Custonaci

On the island of the sun, the village of Custonaci is famous for being the International City of Marbles, being the second largest marble basin in Europe with about two hundred active quarries.

The city of Custonaci really has a lot to offer to its visitors, beyond marble. To visit we find the Shrine of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Sanctuary which was built starting from second half of the sixteenth century. You can also visit the Caves of Scurati, a place of exceptional importance that contains evidence of how they lived and fed prehistoric men. And of course, as we have already said, a visit to the Cultural Exhibition Center of Marble, given the importance of the marble in Custonaci. Also not to be missed are the events that are repeated every year in the country, such as The Cassatella Festival, which takes place from 12 to 14 September, in a climate that is still perfect for spending splendid days in the open air and the Sfincia Festival, the most gluttonous summer event on the island which takes place from 6 to 14 July.

Custonaci is a small town in the province of Trapani, moving around is very simple.

The town has public car parks where you can leave your vehicle, from there it is possible to visit the town on foot.

If you arrive by public transport, you can easily visit the town on foot from the station.

How to get to Custonaci

Custonaci, in the Free Municipal Consortium of Trapani, can be easily reached by car or train.

To get to the town, take the A29 Palermo-Mazara del Vallo, taking the exit for Castellammare del Golfo and continuing up to Custonaci; by train, you can get off at Trapani Station, which is 15 km from the town and is served by buses and shuttles.
