Why visit Prizzi

Prizzi is a Sicilian municipality located in the province of Palermo and has about 4 inhabitants. It rises to 966 meters above sea level and makes it one of the highest towns in Sicily.

Things to do in Prizzi

The emblem of the village, which is also found in its coat of arms, is the Prizzi Castle, also known by the name of Castello della Margana, which stands on the top of a rocky cliff about 470 m high.

In addition to the splendid Castle, the town has other historical and cultural monuments as in the case of archaeological Museum, inside which there are three sections, one dedicated to archeology, one to paleontology and the other to mineralogy. 

Among the events that are repeated during the year in the town of Prizzi there is certainly the patronal feast dedicated to St. George. The event takes place on April 23 and is both a religious and a folkloric event given that, together with the celebrations of faith, there is also a more mundane appointment which is the cattle festival. Another event that attracts thousands of visitors to Prizzi is the Holy Easter, more precisely the Dance of the Devils, a theatrical representation that stages the struggle between good and evil, which takes place on Easter Sunday.

How to get around in Prizzi

The small size of the town of Prizzi they will allow you to visit the town center in a few hours even with a walk.

To better enjoy the area, you can always consider moving with a means of transport, so as to move in total autonomy even among the neighboring municipalities, where you can find other villages to be discovered.

How to get to Prizzi

Those who wish to reach Prizzi can do so by car, traveling along the SS118 from Palermo while from Trapani the recommended route is the A29 followed by the E933. For those who move from Catania, on the other hand, they may prefer the A19 while from Messina it is advisable to take the A20 first and then the E90. All visitors departing from Syracuse will be able to take the A19 and then the E932, finally from Enna it will be necessary to travel only on the SS189.

Prizzi does not have its own railway station so if you prefer to travel on the train it will be necessary to have the Roccapalumba-Alia station as a reference and from there continue with the lines of bus numbers made available by the public company AST.
