Licodia Eubea is a municipality in the province of Catania with its just 3.000 inhabitants full of attractions, a land rich in history, art and ancient traditions. Precisely in the territory of Licodia Eubea ancient human settlements and necropolises have been found, many of which attest to the presence of man since prehistoric times.
It is also said that in these lands it is born Giovanni Verga, who set his short stories there.
What to do in Licodia Euboea
Just 17 km from the center of Licodia Eubea we find the Caves of the Saints an ancient cemetery complex dug into the tuff which houses real archaeological treasures that are part of the historical and cultural heritage of our country.
The main historical religious building, built in 1600 in late Baroque style is the Mother Church of Santa Margherita and the Marineo Caves, the latter a real spectacle natural on the hill.
There are many events that repeat themselves during the year in Licodia Eubea, among the main ones we include the Grape Festival which celebrates one of the most famous typical products of the area, all this in a dream atmosphere, during the warm late summer nights. The event is usually held on the first Sunday of September. How to get around Licodia Eubea
Licodia Eubea is a small town in the province of Catania, moving around inside is very simple.
The town has public car parks where you can leave your vehicle, from there it is possible to visit the town on foot.
How to get to Licodia Eubea
Licodia Eubea is easily reached by car from Ragusa. Just take the SS514, merge onto the SP38II, and after about fifteen minutes of switchbacks you arrive on the hill on which Licodia Eubea is perched.
By car from Catania you have to take the SS194 and also in this case take the SP38II, which however is flatter from this side.
By bus from the center of Catania or from Catania Fontanarossa airport, it is possible to take the AST bus service which offers transport connecting the capital to the center of Licodia Eubea.
Even those coming from Ragusa can use a bus service, in this case it is the Etnatrasporti company which connects the city to Vizzini Scalo, and from this stop onwards you will have to continue by taxi.
