Blufi is such a suggestive town that it is considered a sort of small Sicilian Holland.
Why visit Blufi
Il municipality of Blufi is located in the Metropolitan City of Palermo, the town is spread over a hill on the southern side of the Madonie, has less than 1000 inhabitants and includes various hamlets such as, To bring, Ferrarello e calabrò.
The country is known to be considered the little Holland of Sicily, thanks to the presence of Blufi tulips. In fact, in this area, a type of wild tulip grows, called Tulipano Raddi, which offers an absolute natural spectacular.
Things to do in Blufi
Blufi contains several relevant points of interest. A clear example coincides with the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Olio, located in the southern area of the city center at 600 meters above sea level. Inside the Sanctuary there is a wooden statue of the Madonna, the town's patron saint, who is celebrated with the patronal feast, every year on August 15th.
On the other hand, in the month of May, usually on the second Sunday, the Wild Fennel Festival. A gastronomic event that welcomes gourmands and curious people every year who want to know all the specialties that can be prepared with this product.
Getting around in Blufi
In Blufi we do not find many means of public transport, although there are some buses. In our opinion, the ideal is to move with your own means of transport (car, motorbike, bicycle, etc.). You can always decide to visit the center on foot, to discover the streets of the village, but also the squares and churches. By doing so, you also have the opportunity to taste all the typical dishes of the village directly from the producers of the area and in the inns located in the centre.
How to get to Blufi
Blufi, in the Metropolitan City of Palermo, is located in central-northern Sicily. Reaching the town is easy, both for those traveling by car and for those traveling by train.
With the driving feel, you arrive in the village from the A19 Palermo-Catania, taking the exit for Irosa and continuing for 4,7 km to the centre. With the train, getting off at Caltanissetta Central Station, you will find buses and shuttles that will take you to the town, about 29 km from the station.
