Why visit Alia
The municipality of Alia is located in Metropolitan city of Palermo, from which it is about 70 km away, has just over 3 inhabitants and rises 700 meters above sea level.
The municipality of Alia is part of the Madonie Park and offers monuments and landscape beauties for which it is really worth organizing a tour to discover it.
What to do in Alia
In Alia you will find the Mother church entitled to Our Lady of Grace, built in 1600 located in the heart of the village. The Parish is the fulcrum of the celebrations of the Feast of Our Lady of Grace, the patron saint of the village, which take place every year on 2 July.
Not far from the town we find a magical place, where legend and history merge. It's Caves of the Gurfa, a very ancient architectural complex carved into the rock.
Getting around in Alia
In Alia we do not find many means of public transport, although there are some buses. In our opinion, the ideal is to move with your own means of transport (car, motorbike, bicycle, etc.). You can always decide to visit the center on foot, to discover the streets of the village, but also the squares and churches. By doing so you also have the opportunity to taste all the typical dishes of the village directly from the producers of the area and in the inns that are located in the center such as the famous typical sweet Taken.
How to get to Alia
Alia is located in the Metropolitan City of Palermo and reaching the village is simple for visitors arriving by car or train.
Who arrives by car, can take the exit towards Scillato from the A19 Palermo-Catania, about 19 km from the village; who travels on the train, can get off at Termini Imerese station and continue by bus or shuttle for the next 22 km towards the centre.
