The hamlet of Villa Margi in Reitano distinguished itself at the end of the last century, for the presence of an intense artistic activity, thanks above all to the Festa and Lo Savio brothers and to Antonio Presti, creator of the Fiumara Museum of Art, which greatly enriched the life of this one small seaside village.

Villa Margi in Reitano is the fraction of the town directly overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, between Capo d'Orlando e Cefalù, in north-eastern Sicily. Its position is close to the east with the border of Nebrodi Park, while to the west the Tusa river divides it from village of Tusa.

The territory of the hamlet of Villa Margi is mainly flat and is crossed by the SS117, while the Municipality of Reitano is part of the so-called River of Art, an open-air museum made up of 12 works located along the course of the Tusa river.

Upon your entry into the centre, you will be greeted by Monument to the Immaculate Conception, while further on you will find the Monument to the Fallen in War and the Monument dedicated to Padre Pio.

La Church of Our Lady Immaculate it is the Mother Church of the village, while the Church of the Madonna del Carmelo dates back to the XIII century. We suggest you also stop at the delightful Church of the Madonna delle Grazie.

At the Chapel of Sant'Erasmo in the Mother Church, you can admire many seventeenth-century works, paintings and statues by great artists such as Gagini. In the village there are 4 other ancient churches, while 4 of the 11 original churches are no longer usable. Finally, taking a walk through the entire village, you can admire the splendid views, the fountains and the beautiful view of the valley.

How to get to Villa Margi in Reitano

To reach Villa Margi, you need to get to Reitano by car or train. The town is easily accessible by car from the A20 Messina-Buonfornello, taking the exit for Santo Stefano di Camastra, or on the train, from the Sant'Agata Militello station, where you will find buses and shuttles that will take you to the centre, about 28 km from the station.
