The Holy Week of Burgio is an event aimed at involving the entire community every year, which is committed with all its strength to keep alive the local traditions .
It includes the blessing of the palms, the procession with the statue of Our Lady of Sorrows , the Good Friday processions plus the meeting between the Virgin Mary and the Risen Christ on Easter Sunday.

Also worthy of mention is the procession directed towards Calvary, a place located near the Saracen castle, where the Crucifixion will take place. The faithful, in order to symbolize the pain of mourning, carry the urn of the holy man on their shoulders.

In the afternoon the procession begins, made up of people who carry in their hands the paramites , or a kind of candles composed of wood and tissue paper of different colors that reproduce crosses, stars and various other geometric figures.

This phase of the event culminates with the evening procession followed by careless in Piazza Umberto I.
The carcucciuliata is a large table where it will be possible to taste fried sardines, boiled potatoes, artichokes and other local gastronomic specialities.

Speaking instead of Easter Sunday, it is the day of the famous Ncontru, always in Piazza Umberto I.
The happy event is announced with the bells that ring during the early hours of the morning and lasts until late in the evening, when you can admire a fireworks display ready to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus.
