La Tasting of Ancient Meriesi Flavors is a park fair e tastings composed of markets with craft stands, entertainment for children and musical entertainment.
This is an annual venue event in Meri, a town located in province of Messina surrounded by vegetable gardens, citrus groves, vineyards and olive groves.

History of Antichi Sapori Meriesi Tasting

The event, promoted by the Municipal Administration of Merì, by the Councilor for Productive Activities and with the support of the Regional Councilorship for Agriculture and Rural Development and Mediterranean Fishing, pursues the aim of enhancing the local gastronomic products, which are often made according to the ancient traditions of the past.

The Antichi Sapori Meriesi Tasting event takes place in Merì during the first half of November.
It lasts one day and, given that the precise date changes from year to year, it is advisable to consult the Municipality website.

The event is usually held in Town Hall Square in Merì, located in the center of the town.
If you wish to arrive here by car, it is advisable to park it in the nearby streets, in order to avoid inconvenience due to possible road closures.

What to do during the Antichi Sapori Meriesi tasting

The Antichi Sapori Meriesi Tasting is an authentic triumph of good food and cheerfulness, as it will be possible to taste thousands of typical Sicilian dishes, and enjoy the many musical and cabaret shows.
If all this were not enough, it is advisable to go around two o'clock Merino hills, from which you will have the opportunity to admire a breathtaking spectacle: on the right side there is in fact the Milazzo promontory, while on the left one the Tindari promontory.
As regards the attractions of Merì, it is necessary to mention the Church of Maria Santissima Annunziata, built in 1596.
Inside there is an oil painting on canvas made in 1603 by Antonio Catalano and depicting the Annunciation.
Furthermore, on March 25th of each year, this church becomes the venue for celebrating the Patron saint of the town, which is precisely Santa Maria Annunziata.

How to get to Merì to take part in the Antichi Sapori Meriesi Tasting

Merì is a locality belonging to the province of Messina which has just over two thousand inhabitants.
If you leave from Messina by car, the journey will last about half an hour and must pass through the A20 and E90 motorways.
The closest exits are: Messina-Buonfornello, Siracusa-Rosolini and Messina-Catania.
If you prefer to reach the town on the train managed by the RFI company, it is advisable to go to the Milazzo or Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto railway station and get off at the Merì stop.
Since the distances from both departures are less than five kilometres, the journey takes less than ten minutes.
