The Grape Festival in Mazzarrone is an event born in 2006 to promote knowledge of theMazzarrone PGI table grapes (Protected Geographical Indication), a product that man has always collected from the earth with his work, a product that is increasingly appreciated both on foreign markets and by tourists who, in large numbers, wish to know the places of production of one of the best varieties of table grapes of our country.

The Municipality of Mazzarrone, in collaboration with the Pro Loco and with the patronage of the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies, organizes the Grape Festival in Mazzarrone every year, inviting locals and tourists to this colorful festival!

The Grape Festival in Mazzarrone takes place from 7 10 to September in town. Both in the morning and in the evening, the appointment with the delicious PGI table grapes and Sicilian entertainment await you in the square!

The Festival takes place in Concordia Square. On the occasion of the festival, the main streets of the town are filled with stands and stalls, where you can taste local products and buy a souvenir of your stay in Mazzarrone.

Participating in the Grape Festival in Mazzarrone means discovering unique Sicilian flavours, scents and colours, but also taking part in the life of the town, including games, shows, music, awards and much more, all to be discovered in the town.

When you are not at the party, take the opportunity to discover Mazzarrone and its surroundings: in the village, visit the Church of St. Joseph, Church of the Sacred Heart , Church of Santa Maria del Rosario, in addition to Via Vittorio Emanuele, the first course and nucleus of the town which arose immediately after the unification of Italy. Piazza Concordia, where the food and wine event takes place, is the heart of the village. In the northern part of the country, you will find instead the Sciri Sottano Urban Park.

The surroundings of Mazzarrone are known above all for the Bosco di Santo Pietro Oriented Nature Reserve, which is located about 13 km from the town; if you prefer the sea, in the month of September the Sicilian climate will still give you beautiful days to spend on the beach, then leave for Marina di Acate, just 29 km on the southern coast of Sicily.

In addition to the table grapes and the products you will taste at the festival, in Mazzarrone you can taste busiati with pork ragout, aubergine caponata, stuffed leg of lamb and fish couscous, naturally accompanied by the excellent local wine.

How to get to Mazzarrone

Mazzarrone, in the Metropolitan City of Catania, rises at 285 meters above sea level and can be easily reached by car and train: by car, from Catania it will take you just over an hour along the SS 194, while from Palermo the journey will last about three and a half hours on the A19, Palermo-Catania.

By train, we advise you to get off at Ragusa station (about 23 km away from Mazzarrone) and continue your journey by bus or shuttle.
