Brief History of Torrenova

Il Municipality of Torrenova, located along the coast between Caprileone and Sant'Agata di Militello, is young, having been established on 24 November 1984.
Its name derives from the presence of three military towers built in the fifteenth century to spot possible pirate arrivals.
They were also built following the indications of Camillo Camilliani, a Florentine architect.
La Watermelon Festival was born with the aim of enhancing this local natural delicacy.

How to get to the festival in Torrenova

Torrenova is part of province of Messina, from which it is about an hour and ten by car.
To reach the aforementioned country by car, you need to take the A20/E90 motorway and exit at Terranova.
If you intend to use the train, you must instead go to the Messina Centrale train station and get off at the S.Marco D'Alunzio-Torrenova stop.
Finally, some are available bus and the journey, just like the train journey, lasts about an hour and a half.
