La Festival of the 'Mbriulata is a party held at Milena, a municipality belonging to the province of Caltanissetta.

It is a delicacy capable of attracting the attention of an ever-increasing number of enthusiasts, who look forward to this event.

History of the 'Mbriulata Festival

The event was born with the aim of enhancing the typical dish of Milena, or the Mbriulata, in the past prepared by Sicilian housewives to feed their families after the long and exhausting days spent working in the fields.
In the past, pork cracklings were used, as all parts of the aforementioned animal were used.
It is therefore a dish of poor origins, but today it is more appreciated than ever, so much so that it is included in the lists of agri-food products from the Sicily Region.

In addition to tasting the 'Mbriulata freshly prepared by the expert hands of local citizens, during the festival it will be possible to attend musical, entertainment and cultural performances.
If, on the other hand, you intend to discover the attractions of Milena, you should visit the Mother Church dedicated San Giuseppe (Patron Saint of the city), construction began on 3 July 1870 and opened for worship eleven years later.
It is a building built with elegant and simple lines, peculiarities of the Sicilian neoclassical style, while inside it is possible to admire sculptures and paintings by Francesco Biangardi.
On the facade there is also the clock tower.
Furthermore, since Milena is the town of the Robbes united in thirteen villages, it has a very particular historical center full of photographic opportunities.
In the surrounding area it is worth going to the Nature Reserve to unwind from the hectic daily routine with relaxing walks in the middle of the greenery and the typical Mediterranean scrub.

How to get to Milena to take part in the 'Mbriulata Festival

Milena is about an hour away from Caltanissetta.
If you start from the latter city, by car it is necessary to take the Provincial Road 23 or the State Road 64 or the Provincial Road 152.
Once at your destination, take care to park away from the venue.
Unfortunately, different alternatives to the car are not available: this Municipality is in fact located in a somewhat isolated position and at the moment it is not reached by public transport.
