Every year, two days of celebration are dedicated to the Sicilian cannolo, symbol of Italian pastry in the world, in the metropolitan municipality of Fiumefreddo, in Sicily.

Now in its twenty-second edition, the Cannolo Festival in Fiumefreddo awaits Catania residents and tourists at Caprice bar, in the month of September. The cannoli festival in Fiumefreddo is organized by the Bar Caprice, a venue in the Diana district in Piazza San Vincenzo. The famous bar has been celebrating the Sicilian delight par excellence, the cannoli.

The Sicilian cannolo boasts very ancient origins that date back to the meeting on the island between Roman and Arab gastronomic culture, that is, between a fried wafer and a cheese spread. Today the crunchy wafer is served with countless delicious fillings that the Bar Caprice offers its guests by serving quality products.

The country, on the other hand, offers many architectural beauties such as the Mother Church of Mary Most Holy Immaculate or Covaja Palace, which belonged to a family of noble barons. Among the most interesting natural scenarios, however, there is certainly the Fiumefreddo River Nature Reserve, a protected area that extends along the river born on the slopes of Etna that you can visit for a walk in the open air.

With a few more days available, the Cannolo Festival in Fiumefreddo can become a stop on a tour of local beauties, such as Taormina and the Giardini Naxos, about 20 km away from the center of the festival.

How to get to the cannolo festival in Fiumefreddo, which roads to take

Fiumefreddo is located in Sicily and precisely it is a municipality in the province of Catania, from which it is about 40 kilometers to the north.

To reach the festival you can travel by car, but also by train and bus.

If the first choice is a trip by car, the main road is the Messina Catania motorway (A18) then taking the exit for Fiumefreddo or the Giardini Naxos exit.

Choosing a journey by train, you have to buy the ticket to Giarre Riposto or Taormina and then continue by bus to Fiumefreddo. From Giarre it is about 9 km of route, while from Taormina just under 20 km. At the station you will find buses and shuttles connected directly to Fiumefreddo.

Once in the village, you will have to reach Piazza San Vincenzo which is located in the Diana district, at the intersection between Via Diana and Via Ponte Minissale, here you will find the large stand of the Bar Caprice to welcome you with sweet Sicilian cannoli
