Here there are two figures of knights placed very high up, while towards the lower part there are two Gorgonian-type masks.

Taking a look at relatively recent times, the Archaeological site of Sabucina it was rediscovered in the seventies, when the first archaeological expeditions ordered by Piero Orlandini were organised. Thanks to this event, some remains of villages from the XNUMXth century BC were found. Currently, this area of ​​Caltanissetta has officially become a site of archaeological interest.

The archaeological area is undoubtedly the fulcrum of the site and constitutes a unique village in all of Sicily. At the foot of Mount Sabucina, here are some ancient cave tombs. We proceed with the vision of circular huts engraved in the rock and gathered in a stone wall, on which a wooden structure full of poles was based. In the central part, there is the hearth combined with furnace huts, equipped with ancient stone matrices.

There are also artefacts here dating back to the Aegean era, with various small rectangular houses that harken back to the historic homes of Thapsos. In the southern area, there is a religious area full of highly geometric environments, especially circular or rectangular. As previously mentioned, the Sacred Shrine of Sabucina was very important, made of terracotta and located near the necropolis. Everything is collected in a large fortification wall, still partially visible today.
