Recognizing and rewarding the best actors, photography, editing of contemporary short films: this is the main objective of Well-known Film Festival, cultural event in Noto, already a film set, as well UNESCO heritage of our country and "Capital of the Baroque".
A city rich in beauty, Noto, which rewards those who manage to show or interpret beauty in the best possible way, participating in the competition reserved for short films.
During the event, the Mario Monicelli director award for the current year. Also being examined by the jury, made up of film and theater critics, professional actors, screenwriters and teachers, are soundtracks and screenplays; the short films in competition are fiction and documentaries, but also animated film o music video, shot by Italian and foreign directors.

The history linked to the Noto Film Festival

The Noto Film Festival was born in 2016 from the partnership between independent film producers and distributors, who decide to join together in Magnetic Film Production, to create and promote quality audiovisual products. From theater to music, from shows to conferences, everything that revolves around the world of the seventh art in the Val di Noto passes through the NIFF.
Every year, a prize is awarded to the best artist in the competition: the handmade statuette is the symbol of the excellence achieved with one's art.

In the splendid setting of the "Tina Di Lorenzo" Municipal Theater you can attend the award ceremony of the best films competing at the Festival, discovering new talents and fascinating stories. In the streets of the centre, in the month of August you could meet well-known and established actors and directors or rising stars of local cinema.
Breathe in the climate of cultural fervor that characterizes Noto in these late summer days: art and tradition, the culinary one, which is certainly not lacking in Noto. Taste the strong dishes of the city and the Valley, such as pasta seasoned with delicious Pachino tomato sauces and fresh fish, ice cream or granita with brioche, street food and irresistible cannoli.

Discover all the warmth of Sicilian hospitality and take advantage of your stay to admire the many architectural beauties of the centre: since 2002 Noto was recognized UNESCO heritage precisely thanks to wonders like the Cathedral of San Nicolò, a masterpiece of Sicilian baroque or the Church of San Carlo al Corso, ancient seat of the Jesuits. Enter the Church of San Domenico e Santa Chiara, in Church of the Most Holy Crucifix and in Church of Santa Maria dell'Arco, to also admire beauties from the inside such as the Madonna and Child by Gagini and the XNUMXth century paintings which adorn the sacred buildings. In and around the city, there are also many other Churches, Sanctuaries and Convents to visit.

Continue your tour in Noto, reaching Palace Ducetius, seat of the Town Hall; the beautiful palace, built in the eighteenth century based on a design by Sinatra, was actually completed only in the last century. The "Tina Di Lorenzo" Municipal Theater, home of the Festival, is another of Noto's attractions, which you will visit by participating in the event: take a few minutes (or even more!) to admire its beauty.

Finally, we recommend you visit the Villa del Tellaro, with its marvelous mosaics and the many noble palaces in the centre; moving away a little, however, you reach i archaeological sites of ancient Noto, Eloro e Castelluccio, although we must warn you: the beauties of Noto are many, many more.

How to get to the Noto Film Festival

Noto, in the Free Municipal Consortium of Syracuse, can be reached on the train o in the car, from Siracusa station (which is 27 km away) or via the A18 Messina-Catania, turning at the exit for Noto, while those arriving from the Catania-Syracuse motorway will have to take the exit for Siracusa Nord.
