Lake Biviere is located on the southern slope of the Nebrodi chain, between the slopes of Monte Soro and Monte Scafi, at an altitude of 1278 meters above sea level

It occupies an area of ​​approximately 18 hectares and has an elongated shape, which widens widely in the North Eastern quadrant. Among the waters of the lake, there are various islets rich in vegetation.

Flora and fauna reign here, living treasures along the banks, in the waters and around the lake: ducks, fish and birds inhabit the waters, while on land there are mainly vast beech woods.

A typical phenomenon of Lake Biviere is particularly fascinating: in summer the waters of the lake si color red, due to the microalgae that inhabit the body of water, breaking the chromatic harmony in the shades of green and blue that normally paint the lake panorama.

Lake Cesarò is an authentic beauty of nature, as well as an oasis in which to refresh the senses with a walk on the banks, or in the surrounding woods.

Among the various activities that can be done near the lake, in addition to walking, do trekking and relax while admiring the colors of nature, you can do it at Lake Biviere birdwatching: it will not be difficult to spot the ducks, which populate the lake in large numbers, but also the other bird species that fly over the Nebrodi Park.

It is advisable to visit the lake in the months from March to September, but it is also possible to reach the Biviere in winter: the paths that wind through this area can be followed by anyone in the warmer months, but in winter it is recommended to use cross-country skiing, so the most daring and trained will be able to enjoy its beauties even in the cold season.

Lovers of mountain bike they will find fantastic paths in the woods to reach the lake; those who prefer the car can get to the lake with off-road vehicles.

The paths to reach the lake are different and before immersing yourself in the most solitary nature, it is possible to make gastronomic purchases from the street vendors, to also taste the local and genuine delicacies.

Nature lovers cannot miss the opportunity to spend a few days immersed in greenery, visiting the Nebrodi Park or making beautiful excursions in the Etna Park.

Visitors who want to reach the lake can stay overnight in Cesarò, a village 25 km from the Biviere: there is no shortage of sites of tourist interest in the village, such as Ruins of the Cesarò Castle (dating back to the XNUMXth century), the Church of Maria Santissima Assunta or Zito Palace, an example of seventeenth-century noble agricultural architecture.

If visitors arriving at Lake Cesarò are also interested in visiting the surrounding villages, they can stop at Nelson Castle, 40 km further south of the lake.

How to get to Lake Biviere di Cesarò

Lake Biviere, immersed in the territory of the Nebrodi Park and the Municipality of Cesarò, is located in the Metropolitan City of Messina.

To reach the lake in the car, you must take the Strada Statale 289 San Fratello Cesarò. At the crossroads, continue towards Portella Femmina Morta and follow the signs for Lago Maulazzo. Once you reach the lake, continue for another 5 kilometers until you reach Lake Biviere. Near the lake, you can continue on foot or by bike, to immediately enjoy the beauty of nature.
