The old railway station, the Garden Museum, the Saracen Tower: these are the places in the Quasimodo Literary Park, which tell the story of the poet.
An evocative encounter, the one between Quasimodo and his readers, who participate in the nocturnal visit of Quasimodo Literary Park in Roccalumera, in the small town of the Metropolitan City of Messina.

A unique opportunity to get to know the father of Italian Hermeticism, in a guided tour through the places and relics of his memory, a response to the desire of readers, locals and tourists, who in the summer are in Roccalumera, in the town of Salvatore Quasimodo and they want to know its history.

On the tour, the participants are accompanied by Alessandro Quasimodo, son of the poet, actor and director, through the poet's photographs, memories and documents or by the Park guides, who will reveal the lesser-known aspects of the life of the Nobel Prize Italian, kept among his personal items such as those in his office.

The evening ends with a tasting of local products near the Saracen Tower, giving visitors the opportunity to really taste all the flavors of Roccalumera.

What to do during the night visit of the Quasimodo literary park in Roccalumera

During the night visit of the Quasimodo Literary Park in Roccalumera, those who love poetry will be able to look behind every object and in every detail of the Park, the inspiration of the poet or the image of a verse; even those who don't know the poet well, however, can start right from the Literary Park, to start discovering his work and history.

If you organize a stay in Roccalumera, the village of the Quasimodo family, you will also be able to discover the other beauties of the village, in addition to the typical local products such as the honey offered at the end of the tasting.

In the village there are beautiful churches to visit, such as the Church of the SS. Crucifix and the Church of Santa Maria del Rosario, Mother Church of Roccalumera.

The Church of the SS. Crocifisso, in the Baglio district, was built in the eighteenth century and was initially part of a villa, of which it was the private chapel, while today on certain days of the year the Eucharist is still celebrated in front of the ancient wooden crucifix.

The Church of Santa Maria del Rosario, dedicated to Patroness of the country and decorated in the Baroque style, houses sacred works of art of great value.

Among the civil architectures of Roccalumera, we remember the house of Quasimodo, where the poet spent his childhood and early youth, certainly an address that lovers of poetry will not want to miss.

A Taormina you will find some of the most beautiful beaches in the world: Isola bella, Mazzarò beach and Spisone beach 5 km from the centre, are real paradises for sea lovers, with sandy or stony seabeds and panoramas to remember. In the city, the Church of San Giuseppe in Piazza IX Aprile is like a Baroque jewel set in the mountain, while Palazzo Corvaja is also home to the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions, just to mention two of the main attractions in the centre.

One last piece of advice, for those visiting the Quasimodo Literary Park, is to also taste the typical local dishes, such as orange salad, fish couscous or baked pasta, without skipping dessert: marzipan, cannoli and cassata are flavors to be enjoyed on the spot.
