The history of the Strasatti Fair in Marsala

Strasatti it is the most populous fraction of Marsala which is located on the southern side of the city. The Fair organized for the first time in 1950 is an event dedicated to the sale and purchase of livestock and local products and is financed with a city door-to-door collection. The area dedicated to the event is a private fund that is granted by a local owner and, even if with some difficulties, the first edition is already a success. In fact, in 1951 the event was included in the national fair calendar. The objective of the event is achieved: Strasatti emerges from the post-war economic and cultural isolation and becomes a village where trade also takes place with merchants from other provinces. In 1960 the fair was transformed, livestock lost importance and agricultural machinery took over. Tractors and milling machines are presented and bought by farmers who change their approach to work. Over the years the event has become a mechanical-agricultural review in which more and more space is given to innovation.
The goal is to achieve the best results with the least physical effort, an ever present challenge!
