The festivities begin in the morning, on the occasion of Feast of Our Lady of the Assumption of Pachino, in Sicily. Music, solemn Masses in the Mother Church and a large open-air Mass, in the square, which concludes the day of celebration dedicated to the patron saint, protector of the town: after the Mass, all the faithful of the religious community join in a large procession to the streets of the centre.

The Feast of Our Lady of the Assumption of Pachino is preceded by a very long period of preparation, which begins two weeks before the day of the Patron Saint: this period is called Fortnight of the Assumption and begins at the end of July and in the two weeks of preparation, every in the afternoon the Holy Rosary is recited.

On the XNUMXst of August, after the Mass there is the descent of the Simulacrum of the Madonna, which is deposed from its niche to become the protagonist of Feast of Our Lady of Assumption. In the following days it will be possible to go to Mass in various churches in the town, up to the day of the actual feast, when all the inhabitants of Pachino are awakened by 21 blank cannon shots, announcing the beginning of the feast together with the bells.
In the evening, the simulacrum is carried through the streets of the town accompanied by the music of the band and in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele a great solemn Mass is celebrated, in the presence of the inhabitants of Pachino, but also of visitors from nearby villages and tourists. Later the Procession begins, at the end of which there is a charity draw, the proceeds of which are also donated to international causes.

The Feast of Our Lady of the Assumption of Pachino is a great religious feast that is part of the traditional veneration of the Madonna on August 15th, celebrated throughout Italy.

At the Church of San Giuseppe there is the first important stage of the Procession, which then continues along Via Foscolo, Via Caracciolo and Via Garibaldi, to return to Piazza Vittorio Emanuele.
