San Giacomo, San Rocco and the Most Holy Crucifix are celebrated a Galatians Mamertinus in the month of August: four days of spiritual recollection, devotion and prayer, four days of a celebration which brings together the religious community of Galati Mamertino every year.

During the Feast of the Three Saints in Galati Mamertino religious functions are celebrated in the Church and the faithful go in procession through the streets of the town and its surroundings, but the Festival program also includes live concerts, shows by itinerant artists, tastings of typical local products and traditional dishes.

In the first evening of the Festival, the simulacrum of San Rocco is brought into the Mother Church and the following day there is the great Procession in honor of the Saint. The third day of the Festival is dedicated to the Most Holy Crucifix, with solemn Masses and processions: in the evening the Procession of the Vara di San Rocco starts, accompanied by that of the Patron Saint of the town, San Giacomo. The Three Saints meet in the Procession and the Feast ends only the following day, when each simulacrum is brought back in Procession to his Church, to the Convent and then to the Mother Church.

The Feast of the Three Saints in Galati Mamertino is a feast with ancient origins. Certainly celebrated with great emphasis since 1860, it is probably even older, dating back to the eighteenth century according to scholars.

Starting from 1860, the year in which the festival also celebrated the unification of Italy, this event has always attracted a large number of faithful to Galati Mamertino, both local inhabitants and those from nearby villages: today there are many tourists who arrive in the village, to attend the show of the three Vare.

Among other buildings to visit in the village, you will find the Sanctuary of Trofillo and Palace of Spuches, in addition to ruins of the ancient Castle of Galati.

The town is located in the Sicilian hinterland, on the border with the Nebrodi Park, which nature lovers can enjoy exploring, while those who prefer the sea can reach the northern coast of Sicily with a short journey of just 25 km, to enjoy the beauties of Capo d'Orlando.

Given the proximity to the Nebrodi Park, we advise you to also stop at one of the local farms, where you can taste the typical cured meats and cheeses of this land, such as black pork salami or provola.

Galati Mamertino, in the Metropolitan City of Messina, can be reached easily in the car via the A20 Messina-Buonfornello, from the Rocca di Capri Leone exit, just 9 km from the centre; Also on the train you can get to the village by getting off at the Sant'Agata Militello station, which is about 12 km away, and continuing the journey by bus or shuttle.
