Il village of Falcone overlooks the Tyrrhenian Sea and just as the sea in summer attracts many tourists who flock to the beach, the autumn season offers visitors all the beauties that history and tradition have left in the town: one of these is the Patronal Feast of Falcone, which is held in October and it is a celebration with which the faithful honor the memory of St. John Baptist.

The town overlooking the sea is crossed by the faithful in procession, who follow the simulacrum of the Patron saint; solemn Masses in the Church are dedicated to him, while the community also celebrates in the square, with the traditional one Market fair and entertainment activities dedicated to adults and children in the village.

On the day of the Feast, the simulacrum of the Saint comes out of the Mother Church (named after the Patron) to lead the Procession of the faithful, who pay homage to the Saint with lights and flowers. The Market Fair has been a tradition in the town for centuries, while on the morning of the Festival, the celebrations are announced by the Town Band, which crosses the streets of the centre, filling it with music.

After the religious celebrations, everyone gathers in the square for the traditional open-air shows and to conclude the party late at night with fireworks.

The history of the Patronal Festival of Falcone

San Giovanni Battista is the patron saint of Falcone and the church is dedicated to him Mother Church twentieth-century in the town center; the Patronal Festival of Falcone is organized every year by the Patronal Festivals Committee of S. Giovanni Battista Falcone, with the collaboration of the Municipality.

The civil community also participates, with the music of the Banda and the organization of street shows, as well as the opening of the Cattle Fair of the end of October.

In this way, you will be able to observe all the beauties of the center, such as the Church of Sant'Antonio in Via Nazionale, the Church of the Most Holy Immaculate Conception of Belvedere hamlet, but also the pier of the village and all the typical restaurants found in the village.

After discovering everything about Falcone, you can also explore the surroundings: the sea, with the marvelous beaches of the northern coast of Sicily, is really close, from the town's lido to the Tonnarella beach, just 5,7 km from Falcone; The Promontory of Milazzo it is instead 35 km away, while heading inland you will reach the Nebrodi Park with about an hour and a half by car.

How to get to the Patronal Festival of Falcone

Falcone, in the Metropolitan City of Messina, has its own railway station, which will allow you to easily reach the town on the train; in the car, you can instead reach the village via the A20 Messina-Buonfornello, from the Falcone exit 1,2 km from the centre.
