Even the civil authorities actively participate in the Feast of Santa Rosalia in Campofelice di Roccella, parading during the second day of the Feast through the streets of the center and placing a laurel wreath at the War Memorial, honored by the Mayor. The Festa closes in the evening, after the live shows and fireworks in honor of the Patron Saint.

The history of Santa Rosalia is an ancient one, in fact the Palermitan Saint was born in the Sicilian capital in 1130 and died there on 4 September 1170, spending her life as a hermit. Almost five hundred years later, the relics of the Saint were found near the city, inside the Grotta di Monte Pellegrino, during a terrible plague epidemic that threatened the entire population. To ask for grace, the faithful decided to carry the relics in procession, thus obtaining the intercession of Santa Rosalia, who saved Palermo from the plague.

When, in the eighteenth century, Campofelice di Roccella developed as a village, Santa Rosalia was immediately elected as the patron saint of the town and since then her memory has always been celebrated in the month of September.

The Roccella farmhouse, built in the same year, is the place where it all began, a few meters from the wonderful beach overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea.

And after exploring downtown, you can reach Cefalù, just 15km. Here we have to admire the Cathedral and the medieval washhouse, the temple at the Rocca and the wonderful beach overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea. In the other direction, about 55 km away there is Palermo, the marvelous capital of Sicily, where you can visit the Palazzo dei Normanni and the Catacombs of the Cappuccini, the Zisa and the Church of San Giuseppe dei Teatini.

Campofelice di Roccella is located in the Metropolitan City of Palermo and can be easily reached both by car and by train.

For those arriving with their own auto, the easiest way to reach the village is via the A19 Palermo-Catania, where about 5 km from the center you will find the exit for Buonfornello, which will take you to the village. If you prefer to move on the train, you can get off at Cefalù Station, which is 12 km from Campofelice. Here you will find buses and shuttles waiting for you to take you directly to the centre.
