La Feast of San Lorenzo in Frazzanò it's a religious event which takes place in the municipality of the same name and within the Nebrodi Regional Park.
Today the celebrations dedicated to patron saint are accompanied by those of Madonna Annunziata and San Calogero, as well as the Protector Saints.
At the party, which begins the afternoon of August 9th with a suggestive procession, the entire community takes part with fervent devotion.

The history linked to the Feast of San Lorenzo in Frazzanò

San Lorenzo was born right in the locality of Frazzanò and, according to an ancient legend, the bells began to ring on their own during the day of his birth, as if they already knew his fate.
Furthermore, the holy man lived for several years in Fragala monastery and his skull was kept inside the place until 1866, when the monks were forced to abandon it.
Before that year, a procession was organized on August 9th to bring the relics from the town to the abbey.
Once they arrived on site, both the faithful and the clergy received the skull of San Lorenzo, placed in a bust-shaped reliquary, with a silver neck and head and a gilt-painted copper trunk.
The procession then returned to the town, making several stops to recite the rosary and arriving in the late evening Mother Church, where the relics were displayed to be venerated by people.

When the Feast of San Lorenzo takes place in Frazzanò

The actual event takes place on August 10th of every year and during this day we remember the translation of the relics of the Saint from the Tuttisanti Church to that of San Lorenzo, where they are still kept.
However, the celebrations begin onAugust 8th, With the celebration of San Calogero, while the morning of the following day it is the turn of the Madonna Annunziata.
Il afternoon of the 9th is held Serra-Serra procession, which has the membership of thousands of faithful.
During the walk the half-length portrait containing the skull of San Lorenzo, with a stop at the Fragalà Monastery.
