During one of these return trips from Campania, one of the Sicilian boats found itself in the middle of a storm and the sailors, to save their lives, made a vow to St. Joseph. Since then, Malfa has remembered this event every year, celebrating with devotion thanksgiving to St. Joseph.

How to get to Malfa to participate in the Feast of San Giuseppe

In Malfa, on the island of Salina in the Metropolitan City of Messina, you arrive with the ferry: it is possible to embark on foot or with your own car from the port of Milazzo (Me); the journey by ship takes about an hour and a half. Once landed in Santa Marina, Malfa can be reached by car or bus with a short 15-minute journey in a north-westerly direction, along the coast.
