The Mandanici Oil Festival is an event aimed at enhancing the production of the aforementioned local product, also called green gold because of its very high quality.
It is an annual appointment ready to enliven the squares of the small town located in the province of Messina.
This town of just over six hundred inhabitants, thanks to its geographical position between hills and mountain areas, enjoys a rather favorable climate for the growth and development of the olives, which, once harvested, are subjected to classic pressing within a maximum of 48 hours, so as to obtain a product characterized by an intense aroma and colour, perfect to combine with any dish.

History of the Mandanici Oil Festival

The small town of Mandanici, set on the slopes of the Peloritani Mountains at a height of 417 meters above sea level, it has already existed since the XNUMXth century and at the time this village was the property of a Basilian monastery established by Roger the Norman.
The production of oil is well established, also because the place is surrounded by woods, olive groves and vineyards.
The event is organized with the support of the Union of Municipalities of the Joniche and Peloritani Valleys.

For those who do not intend to pay the toll, no problem, just take the Strada Statale 114 Orientale Sicula.
If instead you want to arrive in the village on the train, you have to go to the Messina Centrale railway station, get off at the Furci stop and take a bus or a taxi that takes you to the town.
