The works were completed in 1721 and the church was dedicated to San Francesco. Only later was it decided to name the church no longer after the Franciscan but after San Michele Arcangelo.

Its current plant is a Latin cross and has three naves: the central one is obviously dedicated to San Michele Arcangelo while the two lateral ones are one dedicated to the Holy Crucifix and the other to the Holy Sacrament. To separate the three naves there are two rows of columns with a square base, furthermore the side naves have a wooden roof while the central one has trusses. Inside the mother church you can admire some particular works such as two frontals which are made entirely in Baroque and which date back to the first half of the eighteenth century while the large wooden crucifix dates back to the seventeenth century.
