The works were completed in 1721 and the church was dedicated to San Francesco. Only later was it decided to name the church no longer after the Franciscan but after San Michele Arcangelo.

To separate the three naves there are two rows of columns with a square base, furthermore the side naves have a wooden roof while the central one has trusses.
