The Feast of San Pancrazio in Giardini Naxos is linked to a particular tradition, according to which in 42 AD San ​​Pancrazio landed right on the shores of the Naxos beach with the intention of evangelizing the local populations. From the beach, he then reached the temple dedicated to the pagan god Falcone, to whom the inhabitants were very devoted, and in which there was an enormous statue of him. Pancrazio planted the Banner of the Cross at the foot of the statue and, by a miracle, the pagan statue began to crumble and fell into the sea. In the following months, the saint managed to evangelize the population and had Christian churches built in those same places.
