The Pool of Venus in Milazzo

Anyone who has never heard of the swimming pool in Milazzo could believe that it refers to a swimming pool, perhaps an Olympic one, where you can go as an alternative to the beautiful sea that laps the coast.

We can say that this consideration is completely wrong as it is a natural pool that is located right on the end of Milazzo at Punta Messina and known under the name of Piscina di Venere.
Due to its particularity and beauty, the swimming pool in Milazzo is an essential destination for all those who visit the Capo nature reserve.

It should be added that the backdrop is a real postcard made up of olive groves overlooking the sea where ancient villas surrounded by prickly pear trees dot the area.

The vision one has when the sunset flares up on the nearby Aeolian Islands is also incredible.

The area that borders the swimming pool in Milazzo has always been much appreciated by sports enthusiasts of excursions in the midst of nature and trekking as the existing routes, can be said to have no equal.

The configuration of the Pool of Venus

The swimming pool in Milazzo is made up of asymmetrical rocks which, thanks to their natural configuration, have created a sort of backwash into which the tide brings water.

It seems clear that bathing in these coves sheltered by rocks and carved rocks where the Stairway to Heaven adjacent to the cliff known as The artichoke, is an unforgettable experience to try. Even immersed in these waters it is possible to glimpse in the distance the archipelago of the Aeolian Islands especially Vulcano, Salina and Lipari while Alicudi and Filicudi are visible only on the clearest days.

The Piscina di Venere is located in the northern part of the island in the Messina area and its water is warm due to the protection provided by the rocks that surround it.

The surrounding nature is extraordinary, culminating in the protected marine area of Capo Milazzo and which is one of the most beautiful landscapes in north-eastern Sicily.

In fact, the promontory of Capo Milazzo hosts naturalistic singularities of extreme flora and fauna beauty with its cliffs dominating the turquoise sea on which they suddenly overhang.

We can say that it is a real Eden capable of satisfying diving and snorkelling enthusiasts as well as trekking lovers.

A paradise for divers

It is not necessary for scuba divers to travel to the tropics to explore the wonders of the underwater world. In fact, at the swimming pool in Milazzo he can find a Paradise capable of satisfying his passion through exciting dives that can be chosen from a bouquet of fifteen diving itineraries towards seabeds that have the peculiarity of exhibiting yellow and white Gorgonians as well as one more extensive prairie of Black Coral and Poseidonia Oceanica.

How to get to the Venus Pool

As mentioned earlier, the Piscina di Venere is located right at the end of the Capo Milazzo promontory which separates the western side from the eastern one.

Also known under the name of Laghetto di Venere, to get there you need to take the road parallel to the Port of Milazzo which at a certain point becomes the Provincial Road 72bis.

Once you reach the crossroads with via Sant'Antonio, turn right in the direction of Capo Milazzo. At a certain point you arrive in Piazza Belvedere where there is a free parking area where you can leave your car and where you can enjoy an extraordinary view of the promontory.

Nearby there are also kiosks and bars where you can buy water and drinks bearing in mind that there are no services on the beach.

From here you reach a path characterized by coral-colored stairs that lead to another path framed by prickly pear plants that precedes a naturalistic path characterized by an area planted with olive trees that allows you to arrive at a natural raised terrace from which to admire the rocky part that reaches up to Monte Trino and the underlying blue sea.

After this belvedere there is a stone staircase that allows you to reach the shore of Punta Messinese and the Piscina di Venere. Keep in mind that the steps wedged into the rock date back to the XNUMXth century and are therefore irregular and disconnected. However, the inconvenience is compensated by the scent of the brooms that will brighten the descent and by the truly breathtaking panorama that you will be able to observe.

At the end of this stairway you will reach a green expanse where on the right is the Piscina di Venere while on the other side the Rupe del Artichofo begins.
