The first foresees a derivation from the term hassin, i.e. cold river, while the second from hassinor, which means stream or small stream. The infinite beauty of the local naturalistic landscape is due to the waters of the stream, which have generated real engravings.
Taking a look at the purely historical aspect, Isnello would have been inhabited as early as the eighth century, during the age of the Byzantine Empire. During the Norman-Swabian period between the end of the XNUMXth and the beginning of the XNUMXth century, the village was transformed into a Royal State property and the inhabitants moved towards the Castle area, considered more livable. The future municipality was then absorbed by the nearby Val Demone, to then be owned by various families during the Angevin and Aragonese age, including the Abbate, the Filangieri and the Ventimiglia.
